2026 New Year’s Address
Greetings,
My name is Brian Ka Kim, and I am honored to serve as the 34th President of the Korean American Seniors Association of Orange County.
The New Year 2026 has dawned. Once again, our Center will continue to grow as a warm and compassionate community—one that comforts and cares for one another—while working together to enrich the lives of Korean American seniors as well as seniors from diverse ethnic backgrounds. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our community members who have long contributed to our region, and we will strive to further strengthen bonds between Korean Americans and the many multicultural communities throughout the United States.
The 34th Executive Board is committed to serving both Korean American and multicultural seniors with renewed energy and dedication. We will work diligently to ensure that the Korean American Seniors Association of Orange County collaborates organically with other community organizations and the broader mainstream society, creating mutual benefits and shared growth. As our communities continue to recover from the pandemic, we will spare no effort in supporting seniors of all backgrounds so they may lead active, fulfilling, and happy lives.
In 2026, our Center will advance its work guided by the following five key initiatives.
Five Core Initiatives of the 34th Administration
1. Building an Inclusive Community
We will foster an inclusive community in which Korean American and multicultural seniors throughout Orange County can come together in harmony. By transcending cultural and language differences, we will establish a community culture rooted in mutual respect and cooperation through diverse exchange programs and inclusive policies.
2. Expanding Social Welfare Services and Strengthening Access to Healthcare
We will focus on expanding social welfare services for seniors. Through systematic support—including Medi-Cal and Medicare counseling, health screenings, mental health programs, and nutritional assistance—we will enhance senior well-being and improve access to healthcare services.
3. Doubling Membership and Enhancing Personalized Information Services
Beginning in 2026, we aim to recruit more than 500 new members each year to expand our membership base. In addition, we will strengthen personalized information services by regularly providing practical and up-to-date resources on social benefits, immigration policies, tax assistance, and daily living support.
4. Introducing Diverse Social Service Programs and Expanding Counseling Services
We will introduce a wide range of social service programs, including family counseling, financial counseling, elder abuse prevention, dementia care support, and connections to long-term care resources. By expanding one-on-one professional counseling services, we will contribute to improving the quality of life for each and every member.
5. Supporting Intergenerational Connection and Participation in Mainstream Society
While preserving cultural identity and pride among Korean American and multicultural seniors, we will support their active participation as valued members of mainstream society. Through intergenerational projects, mentoring programs, and community engagement activities, we will realize inclusive services that leave no one behind.
This year, our Center will continue to expand practical, community-linked services such as Meals on Wheels, expanded transportation services, free legal and financial counseling, cultural enrichment activities, and regular health campaigns.
With your partnership, our community can overcome any challenge and build even stronger bonds. We kindly ask for your continued interest, participation, and encouragement so that the Korean American Seniors Association of Orange County may stand as a place of hope and support for all.
Wishing you a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous New Year.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Brian Ka Kim

2026 New Year’s Greeting
Dear respected members and members of our local community,
Greetings. My name is Hyun Sook Yang, and I serve as the Chair of the Board of the Orange County Korean American Senior Center.
As we welcome the New Year of 2026, I extend my warmest greetings to you with a renewed spirit and fresh hope. The steady growth of our Center over the past year was made possible entirely through the trust and love of our members, as well as the generous support of our local community. For this, I offer my sincere gratitude.
As Chair, I am committed to guiding our Center to become more than just a place of gathering—rather, a strong and dependable foundation that supports every stage of life’s second chapter. The year 2026 will be one in which, built on mutual trust, we expand more inclusive, more dynamic, and more community-focused services.
Moving forward, our Center will be guided by the following principles:
Three Visions We Will Realize Together in 2026
1. Strengthening Our Role as a Comprehensive Welfare Hub
Our Center will evolve into an integrated welfare platform that supports all aspects of daily life, including health consultations, assistance with public benefits, housing and legal counseling, and nutrition management. In particular, we will expand dementia awareness programs, services for seniors living alone, and digital education initiatives to ensure no one is left behind in a changing world.
2. Building a Healthy Community Where Culture and Welfare Come Together
While preserving our cultural identity, we will broaden opportunities for active participation in American society by expanding traditional Korean cultural programs and partnerships with the local community. Through exchanges with seniors of diverse backgrounds and intergenerational programs, we will contribute to Orange County’s growth as a truly multicultural community.
3. Sustainable Operations and Preparing for the Future
Beyond increasing membership, we will focus on enhancing service quality, financial transparency, and professional management to establish ourselves as a trusted institution. We will build collaborative systems with youth volunteers and introduce digital infrastructure to deliver services more efficiently and systematically.
To support these goals, we will steadily implement concrete initiatives such as expanding operations to five days a week, operating personalized consultation desks, strengthening partnerships with local hospitals and welfare agencies, and hosting regular cultural and health seminars.
Each and every one of you is the heart of our Center. As Chair, I will always listen attentively to your voices and do my utmost to create better services and programs. Let us build together a participatory community where we rely on and encourage one another.
May the New Year bring peace and good health to your families, and may our Center be filled with even warmer stories and shared experiences. We sincerely ask for your continued interest and support throughout 2026, as you have shown in the past year.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Hyun Sook Yang
